Distance Learning

Distance Learning

Ruth also has a special expertise in designing distance learning materials - packs that can be used by learners in their own time and at their own pace. Distance learning is particularly appropriate when:

  • learners are scattered geographically
  • they are volunteers who are willing to do some learning in their own time
  • they have a disability which makes participation in standard courses problematic
  • there is a lot of detailed information for people to learn (it's great for practising benefit calculations, for example)

Distance learning can also be used in conjunction with face-to-face training, in a 'sandwich' format, so that participants can take in new information on their own, and test their understanding back in the group. Materials can be provided on paper, electronically, on tape or in Braille.
